My Success Story in full
A couple of days ago I wrote my success story using my planning backwards method. As I wrote it as I thought about it it was a little rough, and I hadn’t been great with my tenses.
Here is the tidied up version which will be my guide to achieving for the next 18 months.
- Imagine you’ve been massively successful at reaching your goals.
It’s two years in the future I’m running a world class hypnotherapy service, massively satisfied by my work, financially comfortable, able to pick work I want to do and getting famous in my field for helping my clients.(I have specifics on financially comfortable).
I have a fun and fulfilling pastime a lot of social occasions and am close to finishing my first book
- Check it’s what you really want.
Yes it is
- Ask how did I achieve all this, start with top line information, imagine the journey, brightly see the steps the successful you took to get there.
I got my first paying client in June 2010
My full time business opening in Jan 2011
The business was structured to be low cost, marketed well, with a laser focus on product, customer satisfaction, good word of mouth
Innovation has set me apart in the market and along with client satisfaction really defines my brand.
I attracted the right kind of clients to generate good pr
I put well written articles on-line and in print which interested and increased customers
The business was set up with flexibility to move to other life affirming areas using client base
I had developed a training programme to tap into lucrative corporate world
I got at least one national recognition of my work
I got out of my comfort zone and practised good networking
I took advantage of all the resources available to start up a business and train further
I had a good client feedback programme to improve the product
I had a strong ethical approach
I had a strong distinctive bright vibrant brand
- imagine the details, think about the kind of day the totally successful you has.
Awake looking forward to the day
Walk the dog
Get to office – new, light, spacious, simple
Deal with clients – they leave saying thanks, look happy, feel happier
Approve new marketing
Write article or book chapter
Discuss new project over lunch
Interview for national publication
Email from someone starting out wanting advice
Repeat business or referral from past client comes my way
Secure new corporate client

- imagine the milestones on the journey that show you’re on the right tracks. Do you win awards? Get a certain number of on-line hits? Feature in a national publication? Get a job offer from a rival?
I will win a new business award
Looking at my diary and seeing the next week 95% full and the next month 67% full
A job or business offer I turn down because it’s too big
A feature in a national publication
Someone wanting to partner me on a project
A publishing contract
My first email of thanks from a client
Pressing view balance at a cash point and seeing a healthy sum
Someone offering to do my pr and some marketing for free because I look like a good business to be involved in
My first controversy of someone saying ‘you can’t do that’
Next post – attracting success
